Imagine a stronger connection between students, educators, employers, and engineering leaders across Northeast Ohio. That is exactly the momentum we are helping create through our partnership with the Cleveland Engineering Society.
Manufacturers and engineering firms need skilled talent. Students and young engineers need earlier exposure to real workplaces, mentors, and clear career pathways. Our partnership with the Cleveland Engineering Society bridges that gap by connecting industry, universities, and high schools across Northeast Ohio.
With guidance from Trish at CES and Matthew from Cleveland State University, we are aligning opportunities that move beyond talk and into action. Together we are building a stronger local pipeline of engineers and technical professionals.
As Trish explained, CES is both a membership organization and a nonprofit with a powerful outreach mission.
Corporate, individual, and student members gain access to networking, social events, and targeted programming like leadership breakfasts and lunch series. Many sessions feature subject matter experts and include continuing education credits.
CES hosts events, educational programming, and fundraisers throughout the year that bring together engineering professionals, students, educators, and manufacturers from across the region.
Scholarships for local STEM students, student-led chapters at universities, and growing high school initiatives deliver early exposure to engineering and manufacturing careers.
Matthew shared how the Cleveland State University community is helping CES expand student chapters. The focus is on student-first experiences that build confidence and clarity.
CES is also developing high school chapters. Solon High School is already active, with more schools like St. Edward High School in the pipeline. These chapters give teens behind-the-scenes access to STEM careers and mentorship they might not otherwise find.
The message is clear. Academic and nonprofit partners can organize the platform, but industry must pull talent forward. When employers open doors for tours, sponsor initiatives, mentor students, and join CES, we showcase the strengths of Northeast Ohio manufacturing while encouraging students to launch careers locally.
